What's new? Everything!

I guess you have noticed my blog looks a little different this week. Well it is completely new, new title and new format. Why?

I have rebranded my Card Website, no longer PS Whimsy (although that address still points to the new site) the new name is Gillian Olson Cards www.GO4cards.com

I still want to share my photographs, thoughts and what's happening in my studio, no changes there, but I think the new name is a little easier to remember.

Fresh out of my camera:

Between rainstorms I managed to get out for a walk and take pictures of the colourful leaves in my neighbourhood.

Did I mention it had been pretty wet?

Autumn is sharing its' beautiful colours with us. The reds, oranges, yellows and purples are especially vibrant this year.

These are the 'fruits' of the dogwood tree:

Here are a few autumn colour quotes:

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."
 Albert Camus

"Summer ends, and Autumn comes, and he who would have it otherwise would have high tide always and a full moon every night."
Hal Borland

"I trust in nature for the stable laws of beauty and utility. Spring shall plant and autumn garner to the end of time."
  Robert Browning

"There are no lines in nature, only areas of colour, one against another."
Edouard Manet

"Pure drawing is an abstraction. Drawing and colour are not distinct, everything in nature is coloured."
Paul Cezanne

Wow, I need this colour in my palette:

"Painting is concerned with all the 10 attributes of sight; which are: Darkness, Light, Solidity and Colour, Form and Position, Distance and Propinquity, Motion and Rest."
Leonardo da Vinci

New from my studio:
A watercolour of an Arbutus Tree, these trees thrive on the coast near the water.
Not quite finished yet, so far it is just called "Arbutus 1".
The inspiration came from a picture I took on Saturna Island.

New to my Card Site:

I have been working on Christmas cards since the beginning of September. Here are some new ones:

"Dressed for the Season":

"Balanced"

See all my seasonal cards at:

Have you started preparing for Christmas yet? A bit of baking perhaps, a gift here and there?

-------------------------------------------------------

What do you think of my "new look"?

That's all for this week, thanks for dropping by, happy Wednesday,
with whimsy,

Gillian
